Kira Keune explores the subtle effects of digital presence on individual time perception and the experience of reality. At the core is the phenomenon of doomscrolling on social media, understood as a form of meditative distraction. The constant, rhythmic scrolling causes a loss of time awareness, as past and present merge without leading to any real reflection or change. The user remains trapped in a continuous moment of distraction.

Keune draws on the historical concept of the eyes as „windows to the soul,“ emphasizing the intimate proximity between the viewer and the screen. Two eyes gazing into the digital space raise questions: What do these eyes see, and what keeps drawing the user into the pull of seemingly shiny but ultimately hollow content? The image of the eyes becomes a symbolic expression of the relationship between humanity and technology, transcending self-perception.

Doomscrolling is understood as a modern form of escape, akin to religious or meditative practices. Much like meditation or prayer, the user is pulled into a repetitive state. However, this escape does not lead to spiritual experience but instead intensifies feelings of alienation and loss. It is a ritual that binds the body and mind, without offering the possibility of release or a true „home.“

This digital escape merges past and present, remaining a constant moment of presence in the digital space that subtly traps the user without providing any true liberation.
