Title: “u r bc I am”
Multi-media installation, paper, projections, computer, webcam

Brief description of the work
As digitalization permeates nearly every aspect of modern life, we find ourselves caught between immersing in the online world and longing for real-life experiences. For many, the digital realm is an inevitable part of daily existence—a gateway to self-expression, inspiration, learning, and connecting with like-minded people. Yet, for others, it becomes an escape from themselves, from real-life connections, and a default habit that replaces the physical world with an endless scroll.

The artwork “u r bc I am” explores the tension between consumption and creation. Its title, short for You are because I am, reflects the dialogue between ourselves, our digital personas, and this very artwork. How much do we focus on external stimulation, and what do we truly seek internally?

By perceiving your presence and responding to your movements—whether an open palm, a fist, a peace sign, or a thumbs-up/down—the artwork transforms passive consumption into an interactive experience with your digital self. It raises questions about how we navigate a world constantly interrupted by notifications, viral videos, and breaking news, all contributing to the mental noise we carry.

Right now—how are you holding your phone? How does your body feel? What thoughts are running through your mind? This artwork invites you to pause, notice, and engage.
Your attention shapes your reality—where will you direct it?

Born 1997 in Varel, a small village at the northern coast of germany, Ole Krüger layed the foundation for his artistic venture. The spark for the arts reignited during his social year working in occupational therapy with clients. Since then, he moved through different media while working at a small advertisement company which opened the entanglement between digital and analog. The decision to study liberal arts in Ottersberg pulled his focus to use these possibilities and create unique expressions.
