In the project “essence,” artist Sigi Brüns collects water samples from religious, ecological, political, or culturally charged contexts around the world.
For example, water from Lourdes, a dying coral reef, the UN meeting room, and the Fusion Festival are part of the archive. It is being created with the help of other travelers.
She examines the attribution of sacredness and healing.
The same amount of water is taken from each sample, distilled on site, and dripped in microdoses into a canister of healing water from Ibiza. The result is a collective, global reservoir.
By bottling and passing on the mixed water to visitors, the work itself becomes a circulating structure of universal connectedness.
