CONDICIÓN HUMANA
Desde una imagen primigenia, de origen, me dirijo hacia la esencia, hacia el principio…
Pasamos toda nuestra vida en tránsito, en un ciclo de renovación constante. Así como el tráfico y el transporte nos llevan de un lugar a otro, el ciclo de renovación constante nos lleva de una etapa a otra, proporcionando oportunidades para crecer, aprender y evolucionar.
Estar en tránsito es encontrarse en movimiento de un lugar a otro, sin permanecer fijo en un sitio específico; vivimos en un ciclo de renovación constante que refleja la naturaleza dinámica y en constante evolución.
Es indiferente cuál sea el comienzo del movimiento, del cambio, del porqué estamos en tránsito… La cuestión es que lo estamos, y con esta obra quiero reflejar que lo estamos desde los inicios de nuestra vida y pasamos la mayor parte de ella en él.
HUMAN CONDITION
From a primal image, of origin, I head towards the essence, towards the beginning…
We spend our entire lives in transit, in a cycle of constant renewal. Just as traffic and transportation take us from one place to another, the cycle of constant renewal takes us from one stage to another, providing opportunities to grow, learn and evolve.
To be in transit is to be in motion from one place to another, without remaining fixed in a specific place; We live in a cycle of constant renewal that reflects the dynamic and constantly evolving nature.
It doesn’t matter what the beginning of the movement is, of the change, of why we are in transit… The point is that we are, and with this work I want to reflect that we have been there since the beginning of our lives and we spend most of it in it.
ABOUT
Soy Ana, una mujer originaria de Extremadura que hace 11 años se mudó a Ibiza para dedicarse a su pasión: trabajar en el mar. Aunque pueda sonar extraño, ya que crecí en una región con poca presencia de agua y rodeada de dehesas, olivos y encinas. Lo más parecido al mar, allí es el movimiento del cereal cuando llegan los vientos de verano, creando una sensación de un mar dorado.
A lo largo de mi vida laboral, siempre he estado ligada al mar, desempeñándome como marinera, patrona e instructora de buceo. Disfruto sumergirme, explorar sus profundidades y descubrir los caminos que esconde.
Hace unos años tuve un contratiempo que me obligó a dejar de disfrutar de mi pasión y buscar un nuevo rumbo. Fue entonces cuando decidí estudiar psicoanálisis, lo cual me permitió indagar en mi propio ser. Aunque fue enriquecedor por un tiempo, echaba de menos el mar.
Fue así como empecé a nadar y practicar apnea con mi cámara, redescubriendo una conexión diferente. Volví a conectar con el mar a través del objetivo de mi cámara, estudiando fotografía y capturando la esencia de las personas conectadas con el mar. Cuando nos sumergimos en sus aguas, conectamos con una parte nuestra que rara vez mostramos. Así nació „Fototropismo“, mi primer trabajo.
Me encanta compartir esa visión con el mundo exterior y poder crear emociones e historias en otros ojos, en otros cuerpos. Generar imágenes que provoquen un movimiento interno en el espectador me fascina.
Continué creando sin atenerme a una idea fija, pues me di cuenta de que cuando tengo una idea preconcebida, termino capturando o reflejando más mi momento de vida actual a través de la fotografía. De ahí surgieron dos obras más: „Ruido“ y „Sísifo“. Con cada una de mis imágenes espero trasladar al espectador a un lugar íntimo y personal, generando un arte que conecte profundamente.

I am Ana, a woman originally from Extremadura who moved to Ibiza 11 years ago to dedicate herself to her passion: Working at sea. This may sound strange, since I grew up in a region with little water, surrounded by pastures, olive trees and oaks. The closest thing to the sea there is the movement of the grain when the summer winds arrive, creating a sensation of a golden ocean.
Throughout my working life, I have always been linked to the sea, working as a sailor, boat captain and diving instructor. I enjoy diving in, exploring its depths and discovering the paths it hides.
A few years ago, I had a setback that forced me to put my passion for the sea on hold and explore a new direction. I decided to study psychoanalysis, which allowed me to investigate my own being. It was enriching for a time, but I missed the sea.
So, I started swimming and free diving with my camera, discovering a different connection to the sea through the lens of my camera -capturing the essence of people connected to the sea. When we immerse ourselves in its waters, we connect with a part of ourselves that we rarely show. Our primitive self that we don’t normally reveal in ‘society’, our most pure essence. This is how „Phototropism“ was born, my first work.
I love sharing that vision with the outside world, being able to tell stories and evoke emotions in the eyes of others, in other bodies. Generating images that provoke a visceral reaction in the viewer fascinates me.
I continued creating without sticking to a fixed idea, because I realized that when I have a preconceived idea, I end up reflecting my own current moment of life.
From there, two more works emerged: „Noise“ and „Sisyphus“. With each of my images I hope to transport the viewer to an intimate and personal place, generating art that deeply connects.
